Two thugs chased down and mugged an elderly man in broad daylight last week near the Judge Moses Weinstein Playground in Kew Gardens Hills, according to authorities.

Police from the 107th Precinct in Fresh Meadows are looking for the suspects who approached the 70-year-old victim as he walked near 141st Street and 78th Avenue just before noon on Wednesday, April 19.

One of the assailants pulled out a blunt object and began chasing the victim, causing him to trip and fall to the ground, where he was set upon by his attackers, who demanded his watch, ring and bracelet, police said. The brutes then forcibly removed his bracelet before retreating to a getaway car driven by a third man. The dark-colored SUV was last seen driving away from the scene southbound on Main Street towards the Grand Central Parkway, police said.

The victim suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene by EMS.

The NYPD released surveillance video of the two suspects running to the awaiting vehicle and described them as having medium complexions.

One was between 5’8” and 5’10” tall with a slim build and was wearing a black mask, brown hooded sweatshirt, gray vest, dark jeans and gray and white sneakers.

The second suspect can be seen clutching the weapon as he ran to the vehicle. He is 5’10” to 6 feet tall with a slim build. He was last seen wearing a green balaclava, sunglasses, a black jacket and black pants.

The SUV driver could not be seen, but the vehicle is described as a brown Mitsubishi Outlander four-door SUV with New York plates #KVD8355. The vehicle also has damage to its rear bumper, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
