The Greater Ridgewood Restoration Corporation is partnering with Councilwoman Jennifer Gutiérrez and Rufin French Yoga to bring back the popular Yoga at Grover program, which provides Ridgewood residents with free yoga classes at Grover Cleveland Playground.
According to Angela Mirablile of the the Greater Ridgewood Restoration Corporation, the program invites locals to the playground for lessons taught by a seasoned yoga instructor. She said that classes in the past have had as many as 40 participants.
“People seem to like it,” Mirabile said. “People contact us every year to see if the program is returning.”
This year marks the third year the program will return to Grover Cleveland Playground. Classes are held on the playground’s volleyball court at Stanhope Street and Grandview Avenue.
Gutiérrez, whose office funded the program, said that she is excited to bring back Yoga at Grover.
“We’ve had an amazing turnout in the past and it’s important to me to continue to fund community activities like this focused on health in our public park spaces,” she said.
Yoga at Grover sessions are scheduled for 10 a.m. on April 29, May 6 and May 13.
Snacks and yoga mats will be provided, along with free yoga mats for the first 150 participants.
