Ahead of the Middle Village Players Roller Hockey League’s playoff season in November, teams went head-to-head in a series of games to set the tone for the rest of the year on Saturday, Nov. 4.

In the first game, the Bears triumphed over the Jets, 8-5, thanks in part to four goals from Daniel K. (No. 4). Jack Pogo (No. 1) added two more goals for the winning team. Providing a standout showcase on defense was Ruairi (No. 10), who saved 20 shots for the Bears, helping to lead the team victory.

Paulie Pogo (No. 27) helped keep the Jets in the game with three goals scored.

In the league’s final regular season game, the High Flyers defeated the Hawks, 7-4. The High Flyers made a comeback from an early 4-1 deficit and scored six unanswered goals to secure the victory.

Alex (No. 22) and Anthony Wilkos (No. 20) each scored three goals or the High Flyers.

The Hawks received a strong defensive effort from Mason (No. 21) on the first line, and Hawks goalie Gino (No. 1) stopped a penalty shot to keep the score tied at 4-4 before the High Flyers took the lead and clinched the victory.

The playoffs for the MVP Roller Hockey League start at noon on Saturday, Nov. 11. The Bears will face the Hawks in the first game and the High Flyers will play against the Jets.
