Are you ready for some crispy, crunchy, chicken? A new Popeyes location is set to come to Kew Gardens in the coming months.
The fast foot joint is set to open a location at 120-32 Queens Blvd taking over the space formerly occupied by the Capital One Bank.
Popeyes is best known for its Louisiana style fried chicken, buttery biscuits and flavorful Cajun fries. In 2019, Popeyes famously became a contender in the fast-food chicken sandwich war, when it rolled out its widely popular chicken sandwich.
A few Kew Garden residents took to Facebook to voice their views on the restaurant opening. One resident seemed to be unenthused about “more unhealthy choices” coming to the neighborhood. However, other residents were excited to get their “spicy chicken sandwich fix close to home.”
A few other residents welcomed the news, excited about a new late night food spot. ” That part of Queens Blvd is so dark at night since McDonald’s closed. It’s a win for the neighborhood!”
In December, Popeyes created a major buzz among wing lovers when it rolled out its chicken wings menu. Consumers can now enjoy five featured wing flavors-Honey BBQ, Roasted Garlic Parmesan, Signature Hot, Ghost Pepper, and Sweet ‘N Spicy.
In February the company announced a plan to open over 800 stores across the U.S. and Canada. Currently, the fried chicken franchise is in 40 global markets, and launched restaurants in France, Romania, and South Korea in 2022.
