Gunman sought for allegedly shooting a man near the LIRR’s Richmond Hill Yard last month: NYPD

Police from the 102nd Precinct in Richmond Hill are looking for a gunman who allegedly shot a 32-year-old man in front of an auto detailing shop last month.

The suspect allegedly approached the victim in front of 130-05 91st Ave. near the Long Island Rail Road’s Richmond Hill Yard at around 4 a.m. on Sunday, June 22, pulled out a firearm, and fired a shot that struck the man in his left leg, police said.

EMS transported the victim to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition. The gunman ran off in an unknown direction.

The NYPD released surveillance video on Tuesday that shows the suspect gripping a handgun in his right hand just before the shooting and described him as having a dark complexion with a thin build. He wore a red baseball cap and a sleeveless black shirt with “XX” in white lettering across the chest, and light-colored shorts.

A reward of up to $3,500 is being offered for information that leads to his arrest.

Through July 14, the 102nd Precinct has reported 185 assaults so far in 2024, 21 fewer than the 206 reported at the same point last year, a decline of 10.2%, according to the most recent CompStat report. Shooting incidents are on the rise in the precinct with seven reported so far this year, two more than the five reported at the same point in 2023, an increase of 40%, according to CompStat.
