Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and while it’s a joyous time for many, it can also be challenging for others.

Holiday feasts bring families and friends together, but the cost of food can be overwhelming, making assistance essential for some.

For those finding the season hectic and financially stressful, help is available through various community resources.

Many local organizations are stepping up to support those in need with food drives, turkey giveaways, and ‘Friendsgiving’ celebrations.

Here’s a list of local giveaways you can take advantage of:

New York State Assembly Member Jenifer Rajkumar is hosting her annual Turkey Distribution on Saturday, Nov. 23, at her office in Woodhaven.

Free turkeys will be given out between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. at 83-91 Woodhaven Blvd. They will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis until supplies last.

The second giveaway will be at the First Baptist Church in East Elmhurst. Starting at 12 p.m., turkeys will be handed out on a first-come, first-served basis at 100-01 Astoria Blvd.
