St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children in Bayside raised $1.4 million at its annual Tribute Dinner on Monday, continuing its mission to provide life-changing care to New York’s most critically ill and injured children.
The event, held at Gotham Hall in Midtown Manhattan on Dec. 2, saw an outpouring of support from business leaders, philanthropists, and industry executives.
The funds raised will support vital programs and services at St. Mary’s, the only pediatric long-term care facility in New York City, ensuring that children with special needs and life-limiting conditions receive the highest quality care available.
“Our annual tribute dinner is a powerful reminder of the incredible community that stands behind St. Mary’s and their dedication to our mission of providing the best possible care to New York’s most vulnerable children,” said Dr. Edwin Simpser, President and CEO of St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children. “This year’s dinner celebrated hope, resilience, and the profound impact of our community’s generosity. Thank you to everyone who joined us and for your continued support of St. Mary’s.”
The evening honored Joseph Mizzi, President and Chief Operating Officer of Sciame Construction, who has actively supported various philanthropic causes. Mizzi, who also serves as Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Bronx Museum of the Arts and Treasurer of the Architectural League of New York, was recognized for his dedication to the community and his work through the 14+ Foundation, which he co-founded to build schools in rural Zambia.
Top executives from the construction, financial services, and real estate sectors attended the event, joining other business leaders and philanthropists in supporting the mission of St. Mary’s.
St. Mary’s has been serving New York’s critically ill and injured children since the 1870s, providing specialized care, rehabilitation, and education to children with complex medical conditions.
