By Sabina Cardali

Welcome to the Point. The Point being College Point.

The Queens Chamber of Commerce held its sixth annual Business Person of the Year Awards Luncheon which was sponsored by Fleet Bank.

Awards went to Thomas Chen, president and chief executive officer of Crystal Window and Door Systems, Ltd., whose 170 employees are moving to College Point upon completion of a new 150,000-square-foot factory; Eda Easton, president of Focus Marketing, Inc., who created a company providing premiums, sales incentives and promotional programs for the business community which uses local vendors, as well as vendors from all over the world, to help its clients grow their businesses; and Joseph Franco, proprietor of Caffe on the Green, who completely renovated the former residence of Rudolph Valentino into a foremost facility with exquisite gardens and food.

The Health Committee of Community Board 7 met and speakers re-emphasized all the information on malathion and the other sprays and voted upon a health resolution in this regard.

Joyce Shepard and the Green Party were thanked for their work.
