Community leaders in a Bellerose apartment complex whose children are split between schools in District 26 and District 29 urged residents at a Tuesday night meeting to exert pressure on District 26 to include the entire development within its borders.
Residents of Bell Park Manor-Terrace have been working with both Board 26 and Board 29 since August after they discovered that while the entire apartment complex is zoned for District 26, school district address directories place some of the complex in District 29.
Because Bell Park Manor-Terrace is zoned for District 26, its residents vote for school board members in that district. Only residents with children in District 29 schools can apply to vote in that district.
