Environmental group praises Weprin

An independent environmental watchdog group praised state Assemblyman Mark Weprin (D-Bayside) last Thursday for having one of the best voting records on environmental issues in 1999.

The Environmental Advocates, a non-profit group based in Albany, gave Weprin a score of 99 out of a possible 100 in its annual survey of how state lawmakers voted on environmental issues, according to a press release.

Weprin voted on all but three of the 49 bills the Environmental Advocates took a position on last year.

In a statement, Val Washington, executive director of the group, said
