A Springfield Gardens man returned home from work early last week and thinking there were burglars in the house, he reached for his gun and shot a teenager who turned out to be his son's friend.
At about 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 9 Robert Taylor, 37, went home early to his house at 131-19 178th Place when he heard noises coming from the upstairs closet, said Police Officer Kevin Tyrrell. Taylor went for his Florida-bought handgun and began asking who was there, according to the police account.
