While School Board 29 has interviewed five superintendent candidates selected by a screening committee over the past week, residents appear divided on who they want to run their 28,000-student district.
On Friday, the school board was expected to submit the names of up to three candidates to Schools Chancellor Harold Levy, who will have 30 days to decide on a candidate from the list supplied by SB 29 or to ask for a new round of candidates.
Michael Johnson, the school district administrator appointed by Levy after the acting superintendent and the superintendent were removed by the Board of Education, was not among the five candidates chosen by the screening committee.
