A special relief fund was established last week by the Autocephalous Holy Eastern Orthodox Archdiocese of the Americas to aid millions of people suffering through the latest drought-induced famine in Ethiopia.
The Long Island City religious organization is working in conjunction with the Independence Community Bank, 37-10 Broadway, which has set up an account at its branch where donations can be sent , said the Most Rev. Nicholas Lambrou, the archbishop of the Long Island City-based independent archdiocese. The Eastern Orthodox Church is a self-governing, independent organization with churches throughout the Americas.
