The DAC All-Star game was held Monday Feb. 12, at PS 169. There was a standing-room only gym as the Freshman League All-Stars treated the crowd to an exciting game.
The West All-Stars jumped out to a big lead, leading by as much as 20 points at the midway point. But the East came storming back in the third quarter with hot shooting by Lenny Saputo (15 points) and Elkyn Jimenez (nine points) to cut the lead to six going into the fourth quarter.
The West had great offensive power, led by Jared Katz with 15 points, Cody Stabile with 15 points and Brian Goldman and Michael Minella scoring 10 points each. Also scoring for the West, Jeff Hoffman and Tony Koulotorous with seven points each, Justin Black with four points, Steve Cervino with two and Lawrence Frankel with one.
Scoring for the East was aided by Wesley Wong, Michael Lerner and Jake Epstein with eight points each, Kerri Morrison and Matt DiGirolomo with six apiece and Brian Durkan adding two.
The Co-MVPs were Jared Katz, with 15 points and 8 rebounds ,and Cody Stabile, with 15 points and 10 blocked shots.
Steven Cervino hit 8-of-10 shots to win the free-throw shooting contest winner, while David Hetzron and Jenna Fogelman won the 2-ball contest

Family Pizza Lakers 58, James Engravers Nets 38. The Lakers continued their offensive explosion, averaging more than 50 points in their last three games. Brian Goldman led with 21 points, John McEntee scored 15 points, Wesley Wong scored 10 points, Jeff Hoffman scored six points, Jennifer Bonilla scored four points and Trent Komito added two. Rob Liquori and William Gillespie had six rebounds each. The Nets scoring for the game was led by Jake Epstein ‘s 14 points, Angelo Giokas scored nine points, Michael Learner and Andrew Reyes scored six points each and Ellyn Jimenez added two points.
McDonald’s of Bayside Storm 39, L&S Mechanical Knicks 35. The Storm remained in first place after edging the Knicks, 39-35. Leading the Storm was Matt DiGirolomo with 12 points — including eight in the last quarter. Kerri Morrison scored nine points, Brian Durkan scored six points with five assists, Vincent Vita scored six points and recorded six rebounds, Lenny Saputo scored four points with six assists and Matt Epstein added two points. For the Knicks, Cody Stabile had an outstanding game with 17 points and five blocked shots, Justin Black and Cody Newman scored six points each, Steve Cervino scored four points and Lawrence Frankel contributed two points.
