March offers an array of musical events throughout Queens.
Guitarist Alan Burroughs will be featured in an improvisational jazz and blues session at LaGuardia Community College at 8 p.m. Friday, March 9. The guest artist will perform alongside local musicians and the house band, including drummer Bruce Cox, bass player Eric Lemon, saxophonist Justin Robinson, and pianist Joe Tranchina.
Burroughs, a singer and songwriter from Chicago, has shared the stage with blues artists Syl Johnson, Sugar Blue, Billy Branch, Sweet Georgia Brown, and Big-Time Sarah.
Tickets for the event at the LaGuardia Performing Arts Center in Long Island City, are $5 general, $3 for seniors and students. For more information, call 482-5151.
Rosa Santoro & Friends perform “Broadway Jewels: From the '90s to the '90s” at the Queens Borough Elmhurst Public Library at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 10.
This concert will feature a century's worth of Broadway musicals, including songs from “Show Boat,” “Phantom of the Opera,” “The Fortune Teller,” and “South Pacific.” Jon Jones will be the lyric baritone.

Singer and comedian Van Parrish presents “Sinatra and Me,” a collection of Frank Sinatra's classics, at the Queens Borough Howard Beach Public Library at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 8. “My Way,” “Witchcraft,” “New York, New York,” and more, will be featured.

The Tirna Gael School of Irish Dancing invites the public to attend its “Irish Step Dancing” event at the Queens Borough Central Public Library in Jamaica at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 13. Admission is free. For more information, call 990-0700.
The Children's Orchestra Society's Young Symphonic Ensemble – 78 musicians between the ages of 10 and 18 – will perform chamber music with symphonic repertoire, under founder Michael Dadap's conduction, at Flushing Town Hall at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, March 11.
Violinist Sheila Reinhold, former student of Jascha Heifetz at the University of Southern California, will also perform as a soloist. A native New Yorker, Reinhold has appeared with the Los Angeles Philharmonic under the direction of Zubin Mehta.
The Ensemble is a 30-year-old Manhasset-based group, which is mainly comprised of Asian-Americans from Queens and Long Island. The event will recognize 15 winners of the 2001 Chamber Music Discovery Competition.
Tickets are $10, $5 for children, and $15 for groups of four. The Flushing Town Hall box office, at Northern Boulevard and Linden Place, is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays. For more information, call 463-7700, ext. 222.
