The College Point Road Runners Track Club will be conducting a series of four 5K (3.1 mile) races on Fridays June 29, July 20, Aug. 3, and Aug. 27, all starting at 7 p.m. The races will begin and end near the Unisphere at the Queens Theatre in Flushing Meadows Corona Park.
Each race has several age categories with awards in each division. Races are open to high school and college athletes. Over the years, the summer series has drawn athletes from such Queens schools as Archbishop Molloy, Holy Cross, St. Francis Prep, Bryant and Cardozo.
Children between ages 3 and 9 can compete in their own fun run with ribbons awarded to all finishers.
Applications are available for the 5K summer series at Quantum Feet, located at 3 Union Turnpike in Fresh Meadows, at races in Queens, Brooklyn, and Long Island or by calling 454-FEET, 424-2478 or 762-1519.
