This Memorial Day was particularly poignant for Queens residents and all New Yorkers. Not only was it a stirring reminder of the great sacrifices made by America’s veterans throughout its history, this year’s Memorial Day brought back vivid recollections both horrifying and heroic, of the attacks of Sept. 11. Communities rallied together to salute and morn in their own ways all those who have imperiled or lost their lives in defense of their country in parades in Little Neck-Douglaston, Forest Hills, College Point, Whitestone, Glendale/Ridgewood and Laurelton.
