Queens playwright to debut new pieces in Times Square

The production will run May 13 – 17, beginning at 8 p.m. with a matinee, May 17 at 3 p.m.

Act one, “Ode to Donald K.,” involves three men discussing where they stand in life, what it means to be a man in the city (to be rich, poor, straight, gay, thin or fat) and, especially, whether there is any point in discussing it at all.

The second act, “My Old Friend,” is a cabaret performance in which a young man about to be married tries to express and even understand his relationship with a lifelong childhood friend.

In act three, “Who’s Afraid of Fran Lebowitz,” an older accomplished writer and his younger, ambitious partner match wits about aging, art, and the progress of social change.

Founded in 2002, Golden Door Productions, Inc. was specifically created to produce new theatrical and other works while helping emerging artists find their voices. The company is off to a great start after closing its highly successful show “Drinking Again” and is currently preparing for the upcoming California Music Festival, July 28-Aug. 10.
