The Brooklyn Knights Under-14 boys’ soccer team lost a close Super Y-League game to the Tri-State Soccer Academy, 4-3, Sunday at the Metropolitan Oval.
Tri-State scored first in the third minute, but the Knights answered back when Wilmer Barona was taken down in the penalty area and Cedric Bouenbaue converted the penalty kick seven minutes later.
Tri-State kept the pressure on and scored twice more in the first half. The Knights came out in the second half determined not to give up and got two scores in the 58th and 60th minutes. Anthony Alvia scored the first goal on a pass from Alex Ayala, followed by a goal from Wilmer Barona two minutes later.
Tri-State took advantage of poor communication in the Knights’ defensive third and got the winner two minutes from full time in a fast-paced and well-played game.
On May 28, the Brooklyn Knights U14 team beat F.C. Westchester, 1-0. Cedric Bouenbaue scored the lone goal.
The Knights’ next game is June 25 vs. the first-place Ironbound Sporting Club. The game will be played at Kean University in Elizabeth, N.J.
