Although Gleason’s lost its first game of the season, 8-4, on April 16, the Michael Casella and Adam Pelner pitching combination recorded 16 strikeouts and allowed only three hits. Matthew Gluck gave a fine defensive game catching, had a key hit and drove in two runs.

Gleason’s 6, Sports D.D.S.com 4.

Gleason’s gave a strong performance April 18, beating Sports D.D.S.com behind the incredible pitching of Chris Canon and Chris Casella, racking up 13 strikeouts and allowing only three hits. Chris Canon also went 2-for-3 and stole six bases, including home three times. Matthew Gluck made a nice catch for the final out and a 6-4 victory for Gleason’s Funeral Parlor.

Clearview Paint ties

Game 4 of Clearview Paint of Bayside Little League’s PeeWee Division was a hard-fought contest under threatening skies.

The team and its rivals took a tie home with them in a game that see-sawed back and forth. GianCarlo Magalong was awarded the game ball for two solid hits that drove in three runs.

Also recognized at the game were Anthony Chiodi for his excellent fielding at first base and Nicholas Bossotti for his batting and play in left field. This promises to be an exciting season for the team.

V.I. Pizza 5, Fader Law 2.

Tommy Monte and Michael DiNoto combined to pitch the first no-hitter of the season for V.I. Pizza. Fader Law’s Sandy Tomerk matched their performance through the first two innings, but V.I. Pizza’s offense finally woke up in the fifth inning.

Singles by Frank Mangelli and Brendan Fitzpatrick set the table for a big RBI-double by Dominick Formato. Tony Davi and Tom Meyer anchored V.I. Pizza’s strong defense.

V.I. Pizza 13, Merrick Law 5.

Brendan Fitzpatrick powered two doubles and a triple to lead V.I. Pizza to victory.

Ricky Sanchez delivered two hits, and Tim Yoo and Paul Mueller both added RBI singles for V.I. Pizza.

Dominick Formato and Frank Mangelli pitched marvelously, and Tony Davi played flawlessly the hot corner for V.I. Pizza.

V.I. Pizza 15, Headlines 0.

Chris Rizzati’s, Sammy Rowen’s and Paul Mueller’s back-to-back-to back singles helped put this game away in the fourth for V.I. Pizza, which also enjoyed an eight-hit, seven-run inning.

Mike DiNoto, Brendan Fitzpatrick and Tommy Monte all had three-hit games. Tom Meyer and Ricky Sanchez came up big in the field, and Tommy Monte and Frank Mangelli combined for V.I. Pizza’s first shutout of the young season.

Headlines 7, Major Homes 4.

Robert Goger pitched three great innings for Headlines. William Blum joined his teammate by pitching three scoreless innings and stroking some key hits, leading to victory and the game ball.

Additional fire power was supplied by Jake Sternick, who belted a two-run double.

For Major Homes, Chris Lundgren pitched two great innings and added several hits, while teammate Tanner Brandimart picked up game ball honors by making a great catch with bases loaded and doubling and driving in a run. Andrew Segretto also made an outstanding play at the plate to save a run.
