In RGMVM’s Major Division, Ridgewood Lodge remained undefeated, outlasting second place Glendale Lumber, 7-4, on Rob Shanley’s dramatic walk-off three-run homer. With the victory, Ridgewood clinched first place and a bye in the playoffs. The last hurdle for a perfect record in the regular season is a match-up June 3rd against Cutrone’s Lawmen.
They jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead on Nicholas Picht’s first homer of the year, a bomb to right center field. Picht, also on the mound for Ridgewood, struck out five in his first two innings of work, while Glendale’s Chris O’Connell whiffed five over the first three frames. Glendale scratched out a run in the fourth on consecutive doubles by O’Connell and Joe Mortillaro. Ridgewood, however, added two more runs on RBI singles from Donovan and Shanley.
Glendale, nevertheless, came back in their final at-bat. O’Connell and Mortillaro homered and Chuck Meyers walked, stole second and third and scored the tying run on Thomas Hock’s perfect suicide squeeze.
But after Picht doubled to left, and Donovan reached on an infield single, Shanley launched the game-winning homer.
