Benjamin Feinstein

Benjamin Feinstein passed away on Sunday October 15 due to complications from cancer.
The Roslyn resident was the owner of Feinstein Iron Works, one of the top-rated specialty contractors in the tri-state area.
Feinstein is survived by his wife Naomi, his sister Anne Gold, his children, Stuart Feinstein, Daniel Feinstein, Howard Feinstein, Ellen Back, daughters-in-law Michele Feinstein, Meryl Feinstein, and Jackie Feinstein, son-in-law Uri Back and 12 grandchildren. His brother Harry passed away in 1980.
Feinstein graduated from Pratt University in Brooklyn in 1955 with a degree in architecture. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the Army., where he served as first lieutenant for the Army corps of engineers.
Once he returned from the Army, Feinstein joined his father in the family business. Feinstein Iron Works was selected as one of the Top 30 Tri State Specialty Contractors in 1998 by F.W. Dodge Construction News, ranking 17th out of 30.
Although the company was originally established in Brooklyn in 1931, the business has been in operation in Flushing since 1972.
One of their most recent projects was the fabrication and erection of the structural steel and miscellaneous iron for the expansion of the College of Aeronautics at LaGuardia Airport.
Aside from his professional obligations, Feinstein was also very involved with the people and community in Queens. He was on the board of directors of the Queens Chamber of Commerce, the Small Business Association, and the Mayor's Committee. He was also the head of the building zoning commission in Roslyn, Long Island, and Director of National Bank of New York City.
