The Long Island City YMCA will pay tribute to three Queens businesspersons - Victoria Schneps-Yunis, president of Schneps Communications; Mayra DiRico, executive vice president and regional president of HSBC Bank; and Susan Crowe, president of Exploring the Arts, Inc.
The women were chosen as winners of the Frank J. Tempone Service to Youth Award, which is presented annually to recipients for their work with Queens young people.
“Our honorees are inspirational women who have a passion for their work and who whole-heartedly care about the youth of our community,” said YMCA Executive Director Michael Keller.
The awards will be presented at the seventh annual Frank J. Tempone Service to Youth Dinner and Dance on Thursday, November 16, which is held to raise funds for the YMCA's youth programs, serving 10,000 nationwide children yearly. Sponsors for the dinner include Con Edison, HSBC Bank, Major Automotive Group and Flushing Savings Bank. Tickets are on sale for $175 per person.
The service award was named in honor of Frank Tempone, who served as the long-time executive director of the Long Island City YMCA. Tempone also was active with the Long Island City Lions Club and the Queens Chamber of Commerce.
