McGriff faces the death penalty in the case. He is accused of ordering the murders of Troy Singleton and Eric Smith in 2001 in addition to running a drug-dealing enterprise, with a stash house in Maryland, that allegedly distributed cocaine, heroin and crack, prosecutors said.
McGriff is the former boss of the Supreme Team, a notoriously vicious and profitable drug gang that ran the streets of southeast Queens during the 1980s.
