JACOBI MEDICAL TREAT ITS YOUNGEST PATIENT EVER IN HYPERBARIC MEDICINE
Jacobi Medical Center recently treated its youngest patient ever with Hyperbaric Medicine. On January 23, Dr. Fran Brooks, assistant director of Emergency Medicine at Vassar Brother Hospital in Poughkeepsie, received incoming patients from a local apartment house fire. Among the patients were Margarita Lopez Antonio and her infant daughter, Yaquelin Lopez Antonio. Yaquelin, born prematurely, was showing signs of elevated CO in her blood tests.
Dr. Brooks had previously served as director of Hyperbaric Medicine at Jacobi and is thoroughly familiar with its applications. Acting swiftly, she arranged for mother and daughter to be transported by helicopter to Jacobi where the infant underwent treatment in the chamber. Yaquelin
