A four-alarm fire in Jamaica destroyed four homes and displaced nearly 30 residents on March 30. According to Fire Department of New York (FDNY) officials, the inferno along Lakewood Avenue and Princeton Street may have been sparked by faulty wiring in one of the houses. More than 200 firefighters were on scene to extinguish the blaze. “We had a lot of fire,” said FDNY Chief Patrick McNally in published reports.. “It was a wood frame building, a lot of room to extend . . . , and it just extended that way.” One civilian suffered burns and was taken to Weill-Cornell Medical Center; 16 firefighters were treated on scene.
