Robin Hood Country Day School, celebrating its 50th anniversary

Paula and Gene Roberts founded Robin Hood Country Day School in 1953; it opened for business four years later. The camp is located in Brookville, L.I. where campers are free from the sounds of traffic and congestion.
This year Robin Hood will be celebrating its 50th anniversary, serving campers in Queens and on Long Island.
Located on 15 acres the camp is full of lush “forest.” Here the campers have room to run, play and have fun under the supervision of certified teachers, staff and counselors. Robin Hood has three heated swimming pools, a brand new mini-golf course, baseball field and new buildings.
Robin Hood Country Day School is a nursery school from September to June, and during the summer, it is a day camp.
The Nursery school is open to children ages 3-4 and taught by New York State Department of Education licensed teachers with specialties in early education. Children are taught writing, math and science, computers, dance and movement. Here the children are encouraged to flourish academically and socially while being involved in “meaningful learning experiences.”
The campers are put into groups determined by age and grade. A certified teacher runs every group. The campers are offered many activities and are also given the opportunity to choose their activities.
All campers enjoy two swims daily, one is instructional and one is recreational. Senior campers have trips on Tuesdays and Thursdays. A three-day trip to Club Getaway is offered for campers grade four and above. Door-to-door transportation to and from camp is provided on air-conditioned mini buses with certified drivers and a bus counselor on each bus.
