Queens resident Connie Thomas (left) won a Red Cross “go bag” from State Senator Serphin R. Maltese and Yesha Naik, Red Cross coordinator of Preparedness Training. Thomas won the bag in a raffle, which she entered upon attending “Ready New York,” a two-hour event sponsored by Maltese and presented by the American Red Cross. The event took place at the American Legion Post 1404 in Broad Channel Wednesday, August 15, and was designed to educate families and individuals on how to prepare for emergencies. The “go bag” won by Thomas is a backpack filled with items to aid an adult for three days during an emergency.
