Bland Houses celebrate

A “Who’s Who” of local officials, activists and businesses gathered to serve up a traditional Thanksgiving dinner at the Senior Center in the Bland Houses in Flushing recently.
About 50 seniors gathered at the center, located at 40-15 College Point Boulevard on Tuesday, November 20 to enjoy a feast of delicious traditional and Asian fare, supplied by the Sheraton LaGuardia East Hotel, Wellsley Farms Baking and others, and get gift bags from the Flushing Business Improvement District (BID) and the Flushing Chinese Business Association (FCBA).
Serving up the heaping plates are (from left) Mabel Law, of the Flushing BID; City Councilmember John Liu; State Assemblymember Ellen Young; Bland Houses Senior Center Executive Director Francy Zamora and Peter Koo, President of the FCBA.
“There’s nothing like a traditional Thanksgiving dinner with all the fixings - turkey, dressing and lo mein,” Liu quipped.
