Mary Louis’s Burakoski Passes 1,000-point Mark

On a driving lay-up in the lane, Mary Louis junior Amanda Burakoski reached the 1,000-point mark in front of friends and family during the Hilltoppers 62-43 win over Kellenberg at the Jamaica Estates school Wednesday night.
Needing 26 points, the St. John’s recruit netted 27, scoring nine in the first quarter, 16 in the third and a deuce in the fourth.
Burakoski became the second Mary Louis player in as many years to reach the plateau. Last December point guard Casey Shevlin, now at Emmanuel College in Boston, scored her 1,000th point.
Mary Louis (2-2, 0-0) will play Notre Dame Academy (Staten Island) at the Francis Lewis Showcase on Sunday.
