Thousands of people filled the Javits Center to network, try out new products and participate in one of the city’s biggest business events - the second annual NY Xpo for Business.
The event, which took place on Wednesday, November 28 was free for visitors to attend, and attracted more than 600 exhibitors from small, medium and large businesses eager to share information about their companies.
In addition, the Chambers of Commerce from all five boroughs teamed up to present a luncheon with keynote speaker, Donny Deutsch, an entrepreneur, author, and host of CNBC’s “The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch.”
“When the five boroughs get together, it gives businesses an opportunity to see what it is we do within our own borough, but also to see how we work as a team to promote the welfare of businesses within our particular communities,” said Sophia Ganosis, Chief of Operations for the Queens Chamber of Commerce. “The venues are always exciting and unique.”
Many of the exhibitors spent their day talking about the different services their businesses can offer to prospective customers and praised the event for giving them excellent exposure.
“At Aetna, we understand the importance of having a presence in the community,” said Ernesto Iglesias, Account Executive for New York Emerging Markets at Aetna. “This is a great place to meet with business owners.”
Thomas Cracovia, Executive Director of Continuing Education Programs at Queens College, said that many of the City University of New York (CUNY) institutes decided to take exhibition tables next to each other in order to promote CUNY and increase its contacts with other types of businesses.
In addition to the networking opportunities, those who attended the event also had the opportunity to participate in free seminars conducted by experts in sales, marketing and advertising, business management, commercial real estate and human resources.
Meanwhile, Time Warner Cable used the event to promote the launch of its new business class phone - which includes a number of important business features including unlimited local and long distance calling in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico for one flat monthly rate.
“We are excited to bring the business class phone to our customers,” Time Warner Cable of New York and New Jersey President Howard Szarfarc said.
