A Castle Hill landlord who attempted to bribe an undercover Department of Investigations official posing as a City Housing Preservation and Development code enforcement inspector now faces seven years behind bars.
Muktadir Rohman, of Queens, owner and landlord of the three-unit house at 1817 Gleason Avenue, was arrested and charged on Thursday, December 27, with bribery, criminal solicitation and obstructing governmental administration.
The investigator found several housing violations that included a broken radiator valve, an obstructed second exit and failure to provide a peephole on the door of one of the apartments.
According to DOI Commissioner Rose Hearn when Rohman, 32, was confronted with these issues he offered the undercover investigator $100 and made it quite clear that it was in exchange for overlooking the violations.
