Egg hunt is ‘eggs’tra special

It was an “eggs”traordinary day on Saturday, March 22 as the Easter Bunny (a.k.a. Sean McCabe) made an appearance in Ozone Park.
More than 100 children and their parents came out to the Ozone Park Civic Association’s fourth annual Easter Egg Hunt, held on the grounds of the Ozone Howard Little League.
Howard Kamph, the Association’s President, told The Courier Sun that while 80 or so childen attended last year, this year the number was well over 100.
“I wasn’t prepared [for that many],” he said. “I had to go out and get more prizes.
Everyone was a winner, and each child received a gift of either a water gun, flute, crayons, stuffed animals or the like. Each also took his picture with the Easter Bunny.
In addition, each child got a drink box and cookies.
Councilmember Joseph Addabbo co-sponsored the event.
The Easter Egg Hunt has grown in the past few years, according to Kamph.
“I [make sure people know about it] and do all the running around, with the help of six assistants,” he said.
Next year, Kamph expects more children to attend.
“I had better get more [assistants] next year,” he quipped.
The Ozone Park Civic Association also has an annual Halloween parade/party and pictures with Santa Claus.
