Bus Driver Slashed

A passenger allegedly slashed a city bus driver on the Q11 bus on Sunday, April 6.
According to an MTA Bus Company spokesperson, when the bus reached its terminal station at Hamilton Beach, all passengers were to disembark. The alleged perp apparently believed the bus was traveling to Howard Beach, and “became angry and started slashing.” The 36-year-old female driver was allegedly slashed on the head and right wrist.
The driver, with nearly one year of service with MTA Bus Company, was treated at Jamaica Hospital and released. The perp fled.
According to police, the incident is under investigation. A source told The Queens Courier, “I believe there is more to this.”
The MTA spokesperson said that protocol when there is an incident on the bus is to:

  • pull over and secure the bus
  • contact the Bus Command Center and give them any and all information — location, bus number, etc. They will in turn call police.
