State Senator Serphin Maltese has asked Queens residents and civic and community leaders to nominate “Women of Distinction” candidates by Wednesday, May 7. The award is presented to women whose outstanding work and dedicated service on behalf of their communities merits special recognition by the State Senate.
The “Women of Distinction” program, created in 1998, is held throughout New York State, and those selected will be invited to a reception and awards ceremony.
Although the woman’s contributions may have impacted Queens and beyond, Maltese has asked that those nominated live within his district, which includes the communities of Glendale, Hamilton Beach, Howard Beach, Old Howard Beach, Woodhaven, and parts of Ozone Park, Richmond Hill, South Richmond Hill, and South Ozone Park.
Nomination forms are available at Maltese’s district offices, one of which is located at 71-04 Myrtle Avenue in Glendale and the other of which is located at 157-02 Cross Bay Boulevard in Howard Beach, or on online at www.senatorserfmaltese.com.
