Are you Italian? Are you a male? Do you have dreams of making it big on the small screen?
Well, here’s your chance.
Pellegrino and Associates, along with Triple Threat TV, are currently in pre-production for new concept in television titled “Bad Boys of Brooklyn.”
But don’t let the name fool you.
The casting call is going out for all attractive Italian guys, ages 30- 40, with a Brooklyn accent, who are charming, energetic, quick witted, good at improvisation and who have a professional attitude.
“They don’t even have to look Italian, we just want a knowledge of Italian traditions and cooking,” said Victoria Pellegrino of Pellegrino and Associates.
Dubbed “personality TV,” the pitch is about four “simpatico” (nice) Italian guys who meet every week in order to keep some of the oldest Italian traditions alive.
The unscripted fun takes place in a basement somewhere in Brooklyn. Set in a comfortable atmosphere, the cast will make wine, fresh Italian sausage, mozzarella from scratch, and other Italian favorites.
“We’re teaching the next generation what the older generation did, but in a fun way,” said Pellegrino.
“We’re developing this show with Pellegrino and Associates to pitch to television networks here in New York,” explained Amy Maguire, VP of Development with Triple Threat. “Right now we’re putting together a ‘sizzle reel,’ which is what you present at a pitch meeting. From there, a pilot is made if it’s picked up.”
Maguire said the pitch will be made to “premiere cable networks.”
Shooting will take place May 18, 24, and 31, and June 1, 7, and 8, in Brooklyn.Auditions will be held on Saturday, May 17, from 2 to 8 p.m. at the S.T.A.R.S. Center, 8 Coleman Square in Howard Beach.
“Howard Beach is known for Italians, so I think we have a good hub,” noted Pellegrino.
“It’s all about who is in your show,” said Maguire. “You have to have larger than life characters that people want to watch. They have to very natural on camera, and there has to be chemistry with the guys - it has to feel like they’ve been friends for years.”
Pellegrino and Associates is also seeking Rat Pack impersonators. Interested parties must look and sound like the originals.
“Come costumed and ready to sing a capella,” said Pellegrino. “And bring a photo.”
Pellegrino and Associates is located in Howard Beach, and is made up of the writing and producing team of Victoria Cerverizzo, a former talent agent with Abrams Artists in Manhattan, and her sister, Patricia Allen, a former broadcaster.
The company is also currently producing an Off-Broadway theatrical stage production, “Party with The Rat Pack,” a tribute to Frank, Sammy and Dean, performing at BB King’s Blues Club in Times Square on Sunday, May 25.
