CAPE helps people cope

The Samuel Field Y in Little Neck has a counseling center, the Community Advisory Program for the Elderly (CAPE) to help people deal with life issues of advancing age.
CAPE has openings in four groups: You and Your Ageing Parent; a support group for those with ill spouses; an Alzheimer’s Support Group and a newly-formed bereavement group.
The You and Your Aging Parent group and the Alzheimer’s Support group meet every other Wednesday.
The support group for those with ill spouses meets every other Thursday morning.
The in-process bereavement group for those who have been widowed in the last year has not developed a formal schedule.
The Samuel Field Y is located at 58-20 Little Neck Parkway in Little Neck. If you are interested in joining any of these groups, they ask you to call Judy at 718-224-0566. A screening interview is required. Medicare, Medicaid and many other forms of insurance are accepted.
