In a few hours, the players on the St. Francis Prep baseball would be enjoying themselves at the school’s prom, where artists Jo Jo and Lloyd were to perform as part of a Web site promotion. But limos, tuxedos and dates were the furthest things from their minds after a 5-2 loss to Regis in the CHSAA Class A intersectional playoffs Friday at St. John’s. After winning their opening game of the double-elimination portion of the postseason, the Terriers lost to Xaverian last Thursday and were ousted by the Raiders.
“This was the best four years of my life,” shortstop Lucas Romeo said. “I didn’t want it to end like this.”
Pat Hornek came in for starter Vin Reda in the second and pitched five solid innings, but Prep hitters couldn’t solve Joe Romano and Mark Skrapits.
