NST Resident’s Restaurant Makes for Enjoyable Evening

The first thing one notices upon entering Bob’s Place is that the staff treats you and your party as special guests. Everyone is cordial and attentive. The warm welcome sets the tone for a special and unique dining experience.
On July 9 we were lucky enough to snag a reservation for an evening of food and wine tasting. This ‘New American’ menu features creatively prepared dishes largely influenced by Asian, French and Mediterranean cuisine. These include shrimp and chicken stir fry with buckwheat soba noodles, Thai duck spring roll, tuna tartare, grilled, marinated skirt steak with mashed potatoes, blackened chicken breast with goat ravioli, crispy Atlantic salmon with black Thai rice, seasoned vegetables and assorted desserts.
Service was friendly, attentive and professional. Bob Manning, the owner (and a North Shore Towers resident) and his head chef (a Culinary Institute graduate) visited each table, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable evening.
Zagat’s 2008 said, “A new and notable restaurant…mid-week prix fixe a boon for bargain seekers.” The extensive menu features ‘small and bigger plates’ at moderate prices. We must also note the handsome new d/cor with comfortable, widely spaced tables.
Bob’s Place is definitely a good choice for dinner and Sunday brunch.
