Chamber moves Green Biz Summit to January

The biggest Green Business summit to come to the borough is getting bigger, so in order to accommodate the interest, the Queens Chamber of Commerce is moving back the scheduled date from September 23 to January 23.
The Chamber, which is organizing the Queens GreenBusiness Summit with the Salzberg group, also changed the venue of the all-day summit from Flushing Meadows-Corona Park to Queens College.
“The Summit has taken on a life of its own”, said Jack Friedman, Executive Vice President of the Queens Chamber. “As each day passed, the Summit grew larger and larger and we knew that keeping the original date would not do justice to the Summit or to our sponsors.”
The Chamber and the Salzberg group began putting together the summit after a sustainability conference at the City University of New York (CUNY) Law School earlier this year. After months of planning, the January event is expected to feature top-notch speakers and presenters from a variety of groups who will identify ways to innovate in a green economy by setting attainable, measurable and sustainable business practices.
“We can have the borough and the Chamber set an example for other local living economies and their business stakeholders,” said Steven Salsberg, Founder and Chair of the Salsberg Group. “We feel confident that we can do that.”
The Queens GreenBusiness Summit will bring together local and regional companies - large and small - to network, showcase their green products and services and obtain comprehensive tools and practices that can benefit businesses in Queens. Salsberg believes telling businesses to go green is not enough; they need to have information why it will benefit their business to do so.
“Queens has never had an event of this type before, in fact, I’m not sure an event of this importance has ever been held anywhere in the five boroughs,” Salsberg said.
