New York State residents, aged 65 and older, can learn about the benefits of EPIC, New York’s prescription drug program for seniors, and how EPIC can help lower prescription drug costs if they have Medicare Part D at a presentation and enrollment event on Wednesday, September 24, at 3 p.m. at the Flushing House, 38-20 Bowne Street, Flushing.
The Elderly Pharmaceutical Insurance Coverage program, commonly known as EPIC, is a state-sponsored program that helps more than 325,000 seniors save, on average, 90 percent of the cost of their drug prescriptions.
Most enrollees have Medicare Part D or other drug coverage, and use EPIC to help pay out-of-pocket drug costs such as deductibles and co-payments, including costs incurred while in the Medicare coverage gap. To be eligible for EPIC, seniors aged 65 and older must be New York State residents with annual incomes under $35,000 (single) or under $50,000 (married).
Seniors who are interested in applying for EPIC at this event, should bring proof of age and 2007 income, including Social Security income documentation.
For more information about the event and to R.S.V.P., call Robert Salant, Flushing House Director of Community Relations at 347-532-3025 or email: rsalant@uam.org. For those unable to attend, call the EPIC Helpline at 1-800-332-3742.
