Some special Valentine’s Day treats came a few days late for a senior center in Jackson Heights.
Members of the Kiwanis Club of Jackson Heights helped senior citizens at the Catholic Charities Neighborhood Services’ (CCNS) Catherine Sheridan Older Adult Services Center celebrate a belated Valentine’s Day by bringing sheet cakes, candy and other goodies to the center for the seniors to enjoy.
“It is a wonderful treat for the seniors and we enjoy spreading a little love at this time of year,” said Maureen Allen, Kiwanis Club President. “The seniors were very grateful.”
The Kiwanis Club of Jackson Heights is dedicated to helping local senior citizens and children in the neighborhood. The club annually sponsors at least two summer Kamp Kiwanis scholarships for children from the area.
In addition, the club sponsors food pantry drives, purchased books for the local public schools and painted benches along Northern Boulevard in an effort to beautify the neighborhood.
