Volunteer attorneys from the state Bar Association’s Elder and Health Law sections will be crisscrossing the borough from now through early summer, to help elderly New Yorkers answer the question, “Is Your Legal House in Order?”
The workshops are part of the association’s 2009 “Mitchell Rabbino Decision-Making Day” programs.
Attorneys will be at more than 100 sites throughout the state, including senior centers, community centers, libraries, nursing homes, hospitals, and houses of worship, to explain legal procedures.
They will also give out documents to help people make better, more informed health care and financial decisions, according to the association.
Among the subject areas that will be discussed are: Health Care Proxies; Powers of Attorney; Living Wills; Do Not Resuscitate orders; organ donations; and probate.

The program is named in honor of the late Mitchell Rabbino, an elder law attorney from Accord, New York, who was slated to serve as chair of the Elder Law Section at the time of his death.
