For 25 years, Uno Chicago Grill in Forest Hills has been serving Windy City delicacies such as the mouthwatering Chicago Deep Dish Pizza to New Yorkers looking for a special bite.
“It feels really good to reestablish one of the best restaurants out there,” said Nick Luciano, a manager of the restaurant. “We’re definitely looking forward to 25 and more years.”
Located at 107-16 70th Road in Forest Hills, Uno offers a wide variety of savory dishes from Sirloin Steak Tips and Romano Crusted Chicken Parmesan, to the most popular Deep Dish Pizza available with a plethora of toppings.
Luciano said that with the renovations currently underway in the restaurant, it is “very exciting to possibly have an almost new restaurant.” He said it will give the eatery a more modern look and will also help to accommodate customers better. Among the new changes, an outdoor patio will also be available to guests who favor an outdoor setting.
“People definitely come for the pizza and the atmosphere,” said Luciano. “It brings you back to an older-feel restaurant and the classic pizzeria look.”
The Forest Hills restaurant is hosting a variety of themed nights to promote special menus. A Jazz menu is currently being offered, which features a variety of dishes from New Orleans, which Luciano said is “selling very well.” There is also “Snack Hour,” which Luciano said he believes is only being offered in the Forest Hills restaurant. All-day Sunday and during the week, patrons can come in from 4 to 7 p.m. and from 10 to close and enjoy appetizers for only a few dollars. Mondays are also “Service Industry Night,” in which anyone who works in the service industry can take 20 percent off their meal.
When asked about the keys to running a strong business, Luciano said “accountability and integrity” were among some of the factors. He also added that the “genuine hospitality that our staff gives to guests definitely makes a person feel more at home.”
