Christ the King Regional High school presented awards to the students who scored highest in the annual New York Mathematics League competition.
Mena Youssef, a senior, placed first and was awarded $100; Pulkit Arora, a junior, and Michael Jans, a freshman, finished tied for second and were awarded $50 each.
Twenty five members of the team who participated in the six monthly contests were given certificates of merit. Awards were presented by Christ the King Board Chair, former Senator Serphin R. Maltese and Principal, Peter, J. Mannarino. The club moderator is Richard Hartman.
In addition, students Makita Ellis and Luis Medina each memorized 1,000 digits of Pi and were awarded $100. Michael Arguelles, a freshman, memorized 521 digits and was awarded $25. They all received certificates of merit from both Maltese and Mannarino.
