Boro man injures ex-wife, DOB commissioner: DA

JAMAICA — A 51-year-old Hollis man had been arraigned on assault charges last Thursday for allegedly assaulting his ex-wife on the Grand Central Parkway, the Queens DA reported.

According to the Queens DA, the 44-year-old ex-wife of Ameer Khairullah, who resides on McLaughlin Avenue, was driving westbound on the parkway near 172nd street at about 7:25 a.m. Aug. 4 when Khairullah, who was sitting in the front passenger seat, allegedly said his seat was reclined and accused his ex-wife of having had a sexual encounter with another man in the seat.

After stating this, Khairullah allegedly punched his ex-wife twice in the face, then grabbed the steering wheel and moved it back and forth, causing the vehicle to swerve on the parkway.

The ex-wife attempted to slow the vehicle, but Khairullah allegedly put his foot on the accelerator. While the vehicle was still moving, the ex-wife opened the driver’s-side door and called for help while Khairullah allegedly pressed his body against hers. He allegedly continued to press against his ex-wife as he jerked the steering wheel in the opposite direction, causing her to fall onto the roadway and be run over by her own vehicle.

City Department of Buildings Commissioner and former state trooper Eugene Corcoran allegedly saw the Toyota roll over the ex-wife’s body. Corcoran exited his vehicle to help, but Khairullah allegedly accelerated and hit Corcoran’s vehicle, causing Corcoran’s vehicle to hit him and Corcoran collided with a guardrail, the Queens DA said.

Both Corcoran and the ex-wife were transported to a local Queens Hospital. The ex-wife sustained a broken femur, a laceration to the bridge of her nose, swelling to her nose and pain. Corcoran sustained neck bruises and substantial pain, the Queens DA said.

Khairullah was charged with assault and felony leaving the scene without reporting, the Queens DA said. He faces up to seven years in prison if convicted, and was held on a $100,000 bond with a $50,000 cash bail and ordered to return to court Sept. 2, the Queens DA said.
