The New Jerusalem Baptist Church held its annual block party on Saturday, August 28. Face painting, barbecue food, free books and CDs from the bookstore as well as blow up rides brought parishioners, families and neighbors. Assemblymember William Scarborough (center) joined Reverend Carlene Thorbes; Joyce Levy, manager of Timothy Bookstore; Rose Watson, VP of the gospel choir; and Alfred Smith, chef, as well as congregants for the day of fun.
