The family owned and operated Touch of Class in Bellerose opened in 1989 and was handed down to Maria Philips by her mother. It started out as a three station salon at first. They moved locations and expanded into a 2,000 square foot one-stop shop at 252-01 Union Turnpike.
All levels of hair care are available, including perms and body waves, highlights, extensions, Brazilian keratin and Japanese straightening treatments. Touch of Class also offers all phases of nail care, waxing, custom airbrush tans, facials, permanent eye makeup tattoos, professional makeup application, teeth whitening and massages.
All employees are licensed aestheticians and massage therapists. They carry a full line of Redkin and Paul Mitchell products and Wella and Redkin color lines. Each week, they offer Monday Specials of 30-40 percent savings on most services.
“We give a haircut that’s fit for the person. It’s about getting the right look so you can be more confident. Our clients always say they feel comfortable and don’t want to leave,” said Philips.
Touch of Class will also come to you for wedding and special occasion hairdos, as they offer on-site hair and makeup services for bridal parties.
In an effort to give back to the community, Touch of Class offers free haircuts to local churches and synagogues, the Ronald McDonald House and the Lupus Foundation.
Philips said Touch of Class strives to stand out from the rest by caring about their customers’ needs and talking to them to find out exactly what look they want.
“We really care about our customers looking their best and we listen to what they want. We’ll sit and have a consultation with you before getting the job done,” said Philips.
