Man waiting for bus gets punched, robbed

OAKLAND GARDENS — A commuter claims he was assaulted and robbed while waiting for the Q27 bus Friday evening, police said.

The victim was waiting at Union Turnpike and Springfield Boulevard around 5:30 p.m. when he was punched in the head by an unidentified person who then went to steel his cell phone, according to investigators.

The victim ran after the suspect, but the robber fought back and escaped, police said.
