WOODHAVEN — Two Brooklyn men were arraigned last week on charges that they attacked a man en route to a grocery store on Liberty Avenue last week, the Queens DA’s office said.
According to the DA’s office, a witness observed Juan Lopez, of 430 Autumn Ave., punch the victim on the head and body. The defendant then saw Felipe Martinez, of 213 Grant Ave., hand Lopez an umbrella, which he used to beat his victim, said the DA’s office.
A second witness observed both men beat the victim as he lay on the ground, the DA said. When the police arrived, the victim fled with one of the witnesses and later went to an area hospital, the DA said. After undergoing surgery, the victim is currently in a hospital on a ventilator, the DA said, and Lopez and Martinez are both charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
